I've usually stayed away from generic ink refills after having bad experiences with them a decade or so ago. (Messy, colors don't match, and for HP type cartridges, the print head in the tank quit working long before the ink was gone.)

But these were just too good of a deal to not check out, especially since my printer was empty or near empty on three different cartridges. The cost of brand name ink for just those three would be more than double the cost of this 15 pack. They come bulk packed each in its own plastic. There are no included instructions other than "pull off the yellow label before removing the nozzle cap" printed on the plastic bag of each one. But that's just fine. I really don't need warnings in 20 different languages to not drink the ink.

To my very pleasant surprise, this ink produces photographs with very close to the same tone as the Canon ink. Side by side (which we tried), you'll be hard pressed to see any difference. My wife and I recently returned from a vacation and we printed dozens of pictures. All looked just fine with these inks. While we used to hold back from printing more than the very occasional color photo at home due to the steep cost of replacement ink, these make printing at home a lot more economical. I didn't want to go the refillable ink route yet, what with the hole puncturing (depending on the model) and the injecting of ink with a syringe. So, the next best alternative is apparently off-brand toner replacements. I'll list the pros and cons for someone in the same position as me.

Pros:

-Cheaper than Samsung-official replacements.

-Fits my CLP-325W Samsung Color Laser Printer well enough.

-Arrived in easy-to-open packaging with a basic text instruction sheet, enough for anyone that has replaced an ink cartridge before to figure out.

-Everything prints with the same clarity as the starter-toners that came with the printer when it was purchased brand new, which is fine.

-I took all my old toner cartridges out and put them in the bags/packaging that the replacement ones came in for easy storage/recycling.

-Printer recognizes toner cartridges, has removed the "low toner" warnings, and no new warnings have appeared.

Cons:

-The black one had a good plastic seal lined with foam and taped on. The cyan and magenta had the plastic seal with foam liner but no tape. Okay so far. The yellow one had just a folder over sheet of foam taped on, and it was not centered properly. Toner dust had gotten on the tape, on the cartridge, inside the bag, and now a little on my hands. Either way, I put all the replacements in.

-They went in fine and lined up correctly, but the tabs are a little long, causing the front of my printer to have difficulty closing. Possibly as a result of this, when it prints/warms up, there's a loud rattling noise. Concerning to say the least, but the print jobs come out fine.

Summary:

We'll see how it performs in the long-run, but they're supposed to last a long time. I got about 1500 pages out of my Samsung Official starter black toner and 1000 out of each of my color toners. I still don't like the rattling noise and I *really* hope there's no damage occurring, but my belief is that it's just those tabs rattling against the outer shell of the printer that had to be forced closed against them. I hope I'm right. Otherwise, these appear to do the job just fine.

This product works well with my Brother 7820N. I've also purchased ink from LD for my wifes color ink-jet and she has not complained. With this toner cartridge I do get some smudges now and again which is why I gave it 4 stars. The packaging is great and the unit is well built. I just ordered another so that should speak for itself.

IMPORTANT TIP: Also, I read a review along the way some time ago about putting electrical tape over the laser windows that measure the amount of toner left. This WORKS GREAT and has saved me a lot of money. Shame, shame, shame on the manufacturers for designing these units to RIP OFF the consumer. If you are not aware of the trick of what to do then here it is.

Very simply remove the toner cartridge (drum unit and toner) from the printer like you were going to change it out. You DO NOT have to remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit as you will actually be working with the drum (the drum is the plastic unit that holds the toner cartridge).

Cut two small pieces of black electrical tape (1/2" x 1/2" approx.). Place the tape, one piece on each side of the drum over the holes. The holes are easy to see and are pretty much right in the middle of the sides. You can't miss them, they are a little bigger than the size of the diameter of a pencil.

The principle is this: The laser shoots through the holes on the drum unit and through the aligned holes on the toner cartridge to measure the toner. When the toner drops past the level of the holes the laser comes through the other side and "tells" the printer the toner is now empty. And when it does this it shuts off the ability to print. There is no more shaking the toner to get more copies because the laser is FALSELY indicating an empty cartridge. By having the tape on the drum the laser can never pass through and give that FALSE indication.

I take the tape off when I put a new cartridge in so the laser can pass through so I know when the toner is getting low. Then I put the tape on and it is AMAZING how many more pages you are able to print. Hundreds....if not a thousand. And then at the end of its life, after hundreds more pages, you are able to once again shake the cartridge and get even more pages. I hope this helps someone as it has helped me.

The cartridges are well-made and could pass for brand name cartridges, but the color does seem a bit off on some documents. There are no problems with installing or the cartridges going dry prematurely. If the color was perfect, it would be a 5-star product. It is the only brand that I'll buy instead of Canon-they are just as convenient to use as the brand.
