Before I bought this greymarket toner, I bought 2 HP genuine OEM toners. Both gave me error message about how I did not remove the protector. It was so frustrating when I had a deadline and you are crunched for time. I had to return both toners by HP and bought this one through Amazon. I did not even have to drive anywhere to buy or return with this little guy and it works like a charm. I am not buying HP toners for twice the price and twice the headache. It would be prudent for HP to seriously consider what is going on with their toners. BTW I googled the error message and there were many hits addressing the same problem.
