I have been having the same thing happening for about a year now, like the other reviewer. The ribbon wrinkles, and eventually rips and has to be thrown out, well before it wore out. I assumed it was the printer (LQ-590) and went through it with a fine comb, but could find nothing wrong with it. I have had the printer for many years, and used to change the ribbon only after it printed lighter and lighter because of wear, but still kept working. Given what the other reviewer said, now I wonder if it a new "undocumented feature," introduced about a year ago, that self-destructs the ribbon.

Anyone else is having this problem?
